Zoomable Number LineI am part-way through developing Zoomable Number Line "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #2 2011-10-22 14:10:15
Re: Zoomable Number LineHi MIF; In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #3 2011-10-22 19:00:51
Re: Zoomable Number Linehi MathsIsFun, You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him find it within himself..........Galileo Galilei #4 2011-10-22 21:56:42
Re: Zoomable Number LineThanks guys. Yes, after a while there is simply no space to put digits, they overlap badly. Maybe I just let them overlap, and provide a "reset" button. "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #5 2011-10-22 22:01:49

Re: Zoomable Number Linehi MIF and bobbym, Last edited by bob bundy (2011-10-22 23:58:07) You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him find it within himself..........Galileo Galilei #7 2011-10-23 08:25:55
Re: Zoomable Number LineGood thoughts, maybe by taking the log of the scale I can determine the appropriate number of digits and the space they take up. Will work on it. "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #8 2011-10-23 08:52:55
Re: Zoomable Number LineWhoa! I was just being funny with the crack about the .999999999... and needing more digits. I love digits and love seeing them but what was your original idea when you started on this one? Implement that! In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #9 2011-10-23 14:37:56
Re: Zoomable Number LineBut bobbym; I liked the idea. Now let me see ... I should check with you first. You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him find it within himself..........Galileo Galilei #10 2011-10-23 16:27:42

Just set t = -2 days "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #11 2011-10-24 07:37:04
Re: Zoomable Number LineCool! Nice looking garden, too. "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #12 2011-10-27 07:43:13
Re: Zoomable Number LineJust an update to let you know I am still working on this as time permits. I am trying to move some of the calculations to Full Precision as the rounding errors look really bad, but that is not as easy as it may sound. Re: Zoomable Number LineUpdate: New version. Still a little buggy, but improved: Zoomable Number Line "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #16 2011-11-01 19:36:02

Re: Zoomable Number LineFor a reason, I cannot un-zoom it. In the heart of the night, when it's dark in the lights; I heard the loudest voice - a gun shot on the floor. #18 2011-11-01 19:48:20

Now that works. In the heart of the night, when it's dark in the lights; I heard the loudest voice - a gun shot on the floor. #20 2011-11-01 20:07:23
