hi friends!
first of all hi to all my dear buddies!
i love maths and computers and in fact i am hobbyist programmer. i was attracted towards the beauty of trigonometry and quadratic equations a bit late (long after i had crossed school) but today i am an ardent lover. i hope i will find help to all my mathematical problems from gurus here.. and also promise to help (as far as i can) anybody who asks for it.
so let's share knowledge with each other!

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means.
90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics.

Not a lot. I was brought up on English, I can get by in French and a bit in German. When in Italy I found I only needed one word 'prego'. It seemed to work for most things. 
I went to the US last autumn and that was interesting ... to hear what the colonists had done to the mother tongue in a few hundred years.
Here's a small joke based on the idea of 'divided by a common language':
An Australian goes on a trip to New York. On the sidewalk he wants to cross over so he runs across the road. A policeman stops him at the other side and points to the DONT WALK sign. 'Hey, didn't you see the sign' The Australian says 'Yes, I saw the sign. That's why I ran!
Oh yes, I did try to learn Russian but it was a struggle. I can remember three words (well strictly it's four)
