Asymptotics from multivariate generating functions

http://www.math.upenn.edu/~pemantle/papers/twenty.pdf

May not be possible to understand. Nevertheless, contains useful information!

"Data! Data! Data!" he cried impatiently. "I can't make bricks without clay."

Re: Asymptotics from multivariate generating functions

Hi gAr;

Thanks for the link!

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.

Re: Asymptotics from multivariate generating functions

Have you ever come across the Flajolet book?

Hi bobbym,

Missed your post earlier!

Which book is that, "analysis of algorithms"?

Hi gAr;

Offhand I can not even remember the title. It is the one that has 1100+ pages.

Re: Asymptotics from multivariate generating functions

Hi bobbym,

I think it's "Analytic combinatorics" .
I've downloaded it - http://algo.inria.fr/flajolet/Publications/books.html
it must be good. They start with generating functions right away! And also the asymptotics.

Thanks for telling!
