Re: What do you think?

Yes!
There would be more frequent updates before release.
Anyway, how do you feel that version is?

Re: What do you think?

The last version I ran was the 279, so I do not know about 283.

I was very impressed with what I saw. They have fixed alot of annoying bugs.

And that probability calculator is very useful.

Re: What do you think?

I hardly got around to looking at that. It is definitely a piece of software that everybody should be using.

So far version 2.83 is more unstable than 2.78. The undo is slower and the probability tester is not working for the discrete distributions.

Re: What do you think?

New problem!

An urn contains 21 oranges and 5 apples. 2 fruit are picked at a time without replacement until all 26 fruit are picked. What is the chance that one or more of the pairs consist of both apples?

A says)

B says) 43 / 115 but I have no analytical answer.

C says) B is right.

D says) A is right!

E says) B, the reason you have no analytical answer is because your answer is wrong. A, you forgot to subtract!

Who is right and why?

Hi gAr;

There are 65780 possible arrangements of the apples and oranges. 22880 are winners.

Re: What do you think?

After everything else failed, I thought like that.
When we think one fruit at a time, it's too tough!

Good question, first of a kind which I answered that way!!

H;

I came across this while I am cleaning up the new solution to that integral in the other thread.

http://www.msri.org/web/msri/online-vid … Video/3443

I downloaded the mov file 273 mb and play it with vlc.

Going to eat now, be back in a while.
