Re: Exponents and Scientific Notation

You think the conversion is correct?

To change from micro-meters to meters you must divide by 1000 000

To change into cm, you must x by 100

What does that give you?

Bob

A is correct for 16.

That conversion kg to lb is correct but ...

17?  The one I'm looking at has kL and liters

Re: Exponents and Scientific Notation

If we are talking about converting 98 kiloLiters into Liters then it has a mistake.

Which is bigger?  one kL or one Liter?

Re: Exponents and Scientific Notation

Answers:

I'm guessing you are more used to feet, inches, gallons etc.

18  f = 30 cm  That's about a foot!  What sort of pen are you using?

19  f  Yes that look good to me.

20  a  30 grams is just over one ounce. That's too low.

Re: Exponents and Scientific Notation

18 b.  Now you have gone to the other extreme.

2 cm is less than an inch.  You couldn't hold a pen that small.

20 f.  I think I'd accept that as it says a small can.

While you were answering I did a search online for soup.  It was harder than I thought.  One site wanted to sell me a picture of Andy Walhol's "Can of Soup" picture!  Eventually found a medium size can of Heinz tomato at 400g.  So 100g may still be a bit small.

Why do the estimating?  Just so you get a 'feel' for how big a measurement is.  Do you usually use pounds and ounces, feet and inches, pints and gallons?  I can give you some conversion factors.

Re: Exponents and Scientific Notation

500g

I suppose so.  If I'd been making up the choices I'd have put them further apart so one answer was obviously the one.  100g, 250g, 350g, 500g, and even 750g seem possible to me, depending on the size of can.

18d I like.

I've just measured my pen and that's what it is!
