hi zee-f

b is correct for 12.

In 13 I think you got mixed up between milli-liter (=1/1000 liter) and micro-liter (=1/1000 000 liter).

Try again?

Er, what do you mean 2/2000000.

I'd be happy with one of the letters.

Which is the correct choice then?

14. Examine the following solution to a conversion problem. Do you see a mistake? If so, identify the location of the first mistake and explain why it is incorrect.

A The conversion is not possible.

B The first problem occurs in column (1). The problem should begin with mg.

C The first problem occurs in column (2). 1 kg is not equal to 1000 g, so that should not be used as the conversion factor.

D The first problem occurs in column (2). The conversion factor is upside down (grams should be on top, and kg should be on bottom).

E The first problem occurs in column (4). The multiplication and division was performed incorrectly.

FNo mistakes

hi zee-f

Yes, I've seen the picture.

And your conversion in post #64 is correct.

And that's not what the picture says, so there's a mistake somewhere. Once a mistake has occurred what follows may also be wrong (because of a double error or because the first error messes up the rest) so you only have to find the first error.

And say where it occurs by giving the number (1) or (2) or .....

What do you think?

Are you sure you have the possible answers copied correctly because no line describes exactly what has gone wrong. Answer D has column (2) again. Should this be a (3) ?

C ?

But 1000g is 1Kg! Kilo means 1000 so Kilogram = 1000 grams

That's what I think.

I've not seen conversions done in a table like this, but I think my diagram below shows what is intended.

And that means it should be multiply then multiply again.

Well yes, I agree, but I still find this way of converting puzzling.

Why would you change to cm via meters.

Ho hum, let's push on. Maybe the next one will make more sense.

Do you mean this one:

That's a Greek letter 'mu'. It's used to stand for 'micro' = 1/1000 000

so
