Re: What do you think?

Hi bobbym,

Okay.
So the answer is:

"Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense"  - Buddha?

"Data! Data! Data!" he cried impatiently. "I can't make bricks without clay."

Hi;

Re: What do you think?

New problem!

E says, two ants are at opposite ends of a number line  Ant A starts at the point A which is on the extreme left. Ant B starts at the point B which is on the extreme right. Ant A and B are now facing each  They start out and meet each other at point C. The distance from A to C is 'a' meters longer than C to B

After they meet they continue onwards in the same direction, with A reaching B in m hours and B reaching A in n hours. What is the speeds of A and B.

A says) I do not know.
B says) Nether do I
C says) Too tough for me.
D says) I once saw a bunch of ants eat two pigs.

E says) No work shown, no credit! I have stumped the panel and now I will stump the world![b]

Perhaps!
My answer's dimensions are meters per hour!!

Re: What do you think?

Hi gAr;

The person posing this problem has relased a little bit more information. Does this change your solution?

C is the meeting point. M is the middle of the path.http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/5792/hardh.png

Re: What do you think?

Hi,

Is the answer required in terms of a?

Re: What do you think?

Ahh yes! Good point! I left that out thinking it did not matter. I did not get an answer that made sense.

These he says are the two solutions:

Re: What do you think?

Hmmm, I saw that a is always 0.5!
I'll check again.

Yes, a is always 0.5

Re: What do you think?

Hi bobbym,

You're welcome!
So 'a' is not the distance between C and M.
You may want to change the question posted.

Re: What do you think?

Hi bobbym,

This is the only change required:

The distance from A to C is one meter longer than C to B

to

The distance from A to C is 'a' meters longer than C to B
