So I was clearing out my classroom yesterday and came across a cryptic number puzzle. Unfortunately I couldn't find the solution and it's been so long I can't remember it. Even google couldn't help me!

The puzzle is:

**1, 13, 16, 61, ? , 217**

Find the missing number.

Can anyone help, it's driving me mad!

**In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.**

**I agree with you regarding the satisfaction and importance of actually computing some numbers. I can't tell you how often I see time and money wasted because someone didn't bother to run the numbers.**

Thanks, I can stop tearing my hair out now. Maybe I'd have seen it if i'd bothered to *write* down the differences rather than working them out in my head.

Hi studymaths;

Keeping good, neat notes has been the hardest thing. Just mastering that will make your students successful.

I wanted to ask you about that. Where do you keep your notes? It seems that you have in there everything that you have ever worked on on this forum.

They do not come out of thin air. I have to find one or create it. What type of problem is this?
