Really good at Mathematics? Are you very good at Mathematics? This is the award you should aspire for, and get, before you are forty. Character is who you are when no one is looking. #3 2005-10-26 14:11:05
Re: Really good at Mathematics?Nobel prize is not awarded for Mathematics. Field's Medal is the Nobel Prize equivalent in Mathematics. However, its awarded only once in four years. Character is who you are when no one is looking. #4 2005-10-26 15:49:19
Re: Really good at Mathematics? There should be a Nobel for Mathematics ... all the rest of Science hangs off it. "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #5 2005-10-27 00:27:10
Re: Really good at Mathematics?I know you there isn't a nobel prize in mathematics but four years is a bit long it's like the world cup but it's only a one man team without brazil winning it four times. #6 2005-10-27 07:11:23
Re: Really good at Mathematics?Maybe we could fill the gap with a "Fun in Mathematics" prize. Winner gets a free supply of binary digits for a year. "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #7 2005-10-27 08:33:11
Re: Really good at Mathematics?Didn't you answer your own question "Fun in Mathematics" prize.
That almost sounds like a kind of chocolate. #8 2005-12-18 09:47:07
Re: Really good at Mathematics? The Field Medal awarders also gave award only once for a person over forty years ago. It was to Andrew Wiles who received the silver plague for solving the Fermat's Last Theorm which has kept many of the finest mathematicians for many centuries. |
