Re: Song of the Day!I'm on a very sad note. People don't notice whether it's winter or summer when they're happy. ~ Anton Chekhov Cheer up, emo kid. #377 2011-02-17 18:36:08
Re: Song of the Day!I was thinking of "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree" In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #378 2011-02-17 19:22:39
Re: Song of the Day!I take it that's an old song. Who would do that anyway? Seems pretty pointless. People don't notice whether it's winter or summer when they're happy. ~ Anton Chekhov Cheer up, emo kid. #379 2011-02-17 19:27:34
Re: Song of the Day!Like the Bird song it is from a more civilized time. Even the meaning of the song is lost today. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #380 2011-02-21 21:38:40
Re: Song of the Day!Yeah, the meaning, that's what I was asking. And yet my questions go unanswered once again. People don't notice whether it's winter or summer when they're happy. ~ Anton Chekhov Cheer up, emo kid. #381 2011-02-22 06:12:03
Re: Song of the Day!It is about a guy returning home on a bus from prison to a girl he hopes is waiting for him. He writes her a letter asking her to tie a yellow ribbon around an oak tree as a sign that she still does. If he sees the ribbon he will get off, if not he is prepared to just keep going knowing that it was his fault for being away for 3 years. Very eastern in its method and quite mystifying to todays women. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #382 2011-02-26 05:52:19
Re: Song of the Day!Wow, bobbym. And who sings this song you're talking about?

Re: Song of the Day!Well? Did she tie the yellow ribbon round the oak tree and live happily ever after? Well? Did they? People don't notice whether it's winter or summer when they're happy. ~ Anton Chekhov Cheer up, emo kid. #385 2011-02-26 20:59:00
Re: Song of the Day!It already happened at the end of the song. I suggest you listen to it. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #386 2011-02-26 21:01:02
Re: Song of the Day!Yeah, that's not gunna happen. I might try that method, though. People don't notice whether it's winter or summer when they're happy. ~ Anton Chekhov Cheer up, emo kid. #387 2011-02-26 21:01:44
Re: Song of the Day!I am not following you. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #388 2011-02-26 23:19:48
Re: Song of the Day!I said it'd be funny to test that method. Of having someone you're waiting for to decide whether to tie a ribbon round an oak tree or not. People don't notice whether it's winter or summer when they're happy. ~ Anton Chekhov Cheer up, emo kid. #389 2011-02-26 23:24:08
Re: Song of the Day!Funny? In what way? In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. You could still answer the question... Just saying. Or perhaps my feeble brain cannot handle the answer. Of Moons, Birds and Monsters #391 2011-03-02 12:22:08

Re: Song of the Day!Well, write Tony and make your feelingd known before he goes off with another song just like it. It is not as good as the bird song. In mathematics, you don't understand things. Re: Song of the Day!That is where you are wrong. I click all the links. If it gets posted I look at it. Sometimes I do not comment as I have nothing to say. Most of the times though I will have plenty to say. In mathematics, you don't understand things.
