Hello Fellow Smart Ones!
Hey people! I'm Lazernugget, I'm kinda young, but my love for Math, Physics, Astronomy, Inventing, Math, Physics, Astrono-Wait...I already said those! XD...So yeah....I LOVE advanced math...even though that math is like 5 grades ahead of me...I know 44 digits to Pi, (Currently) and just....well...love math! I want to be an astronomer and inventor, and understand most physics, ALL about astronomy, and I find Algebra section 2 being more fun than algebra section 1! I know geometry, and combination math, and (What I'm proud of,) I know how to do SOME Trigonometry! You will learn more of my personality soon, so I hope everyone's friendly and helpful! See ya!

Welcome to the forum! How young or how old are you? Why astronomy? Ever thought about a career in math? If you love it then that is where you ought to be, maybe?

I just love the idea of Astronomy...It has A LOT to do with math...and physics...Looking and finding new planets and stars...mapping the universe...My inventing comes in many ways...I have satellite blueprints, a new space-craft design, and such...yeah...

I agree. I am subject to it too. They are bashing me horribly on another forum. I had posts deleted from my score there to prevent me from being considered for a moderator. I would only be a moderator there to protect myself and for no other reason. I am laughed at, ridiculed, called names by the mods.
2 or 3 people think that the moderation here is too stern. I only wish to the three of them that I could sign them up over there. They deserve each other.

If you want to combine maths with astronomy here's a suggestion that shouldn't cost you too much.
"A field guide to the stars and planets" by Donald Menzel.
I bought this book 1966 edition but it's been re-printed lots of times and seems to be available second hand for a few cents.
It has accurate diagrams of the visible planetary orbits along with the data you need to calculate which one(s) will be in the night sky and in what constellation. I find it very satisfying to work out what I will be able to see on a given date, and then go out and confirm it by making the observation. A wonderful combination of mathematical modelling and science in action. You can also automate the calculations by setting up the formulas in a spreadsheet program like Excel.
Every year Nortons Star Atlas is published. It too is full of useful stuff for the star gazer. Couldn't find a 2011 edition on-line (surely it's out there somewhere?) but 2010 certainly exists. Worth a search for the latest I think.
later edit: Looks like it isn't published every year. My mistake. So 2010 is the latest.

hello, nice to meet you! all i can say is, learn as much as you can but also have fun, use khanacademy, examsolutions etc and as many youtube videos as you can, read books, find good math teachers, use mathisfun and physicsforums and WA to learn. when you dont understand just ask someone, other people never have this kind of thing when they were young, make the most of it

44 digits? Quite impressive. You may break my record soon! Currently, the most I have been able to recite together are 73 - and I am 1 year older then you! I really need to get memorizing more - one year can memorize 100 digits.
