Hey forum! Im new and I hope you can help me survive for years to comeHey guys. I've started studying biochemistry at uni, and for the first couple of months we have a math intro course. In this course we're bombarded with excruciatingly hard assignments, where you often don't even understand the question. #2 2010-10-08 01:03:48
Re: Hey forum! Im new and I hope you can help me survive for years to comeHi Fzang;
Welcome to the forum! Do not worry there is plenty of math for tangible problems as well as for the otherworldly dimensions. You may wish you were in one of those otherworldly dimensions after you see how untangible tangible problems are. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #3 2010-10-08 01:15:02

Re: Hey forum! Im new and I hope you can help me survive for years to comeNo, I meant untangible. Intangible does not describe it well enough. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #5 2010-10-08 01:49:19
Re: Hey forum! Im new and I hope you can help me survive for years to comeActually, I do. I'll get to them in a minute, when I've finished writing down the solution to another problem
