Hi Sarah Rebekah 13;

Hello! How are you today? I always mention that this is your thread and you will never be left out. I always answer your posts when I see them.

How are you doing with your learning?

Re: Is bobbym doing ok?

Bobby, y'know what I've discovered? I think you don't know the meaning of the word 'geek'. But I've been trying to establish the difference between 'nerd' and 'geek'. Do you have any useful theories?

Re: Is bobbym doing ok?

I told you what the Wikipedia definition is. Someone who tears the head off of bats or chickens or snakes and eats them, raw.

Re: Is bobbym doing ok?

Oh yeah. Did Wiki have any other definition? A disambiguation maybe? Did they have a definition for nerd? My widget dictionary says a nerd is 'a foolish or contemptible person who lacks social skills or is boringly studious.' That sounds a bit like me, actually.

Re: Is bobbym doing ok?

A nerd is fine. Contemptible? I don't think study is contemptible. I think being stupid when you have an alternative is contemptible.

Re: Is bobbym doing ok?

Agreed. Lacking social skills is not contemptible. Or foolish for that matter. Although, I looked it in the Thesaurus as well and it had geek there as well... My dictionary says for geek: 'a unfashionable or socially inept person. A person with an eccentric devotion to a particular interest.' And then it says 2: 'A carnival performer who does wild or disgusting acts.' Maybe that's what Wiki was talking about...

Re: Is bobbym doing ok?

Are you socially inept. Are you unfashionable? Do you have an eccentric devotion to a particular interest? Whatever that means. Looks like that dictionary swallowed another dictionary.

Re: Is bobbym doing ok?

I'm very much socially inept. Of course I'm not unfashionable, a checked shirt and comic book T-shirts never did anybody any harm. Eccentric devotion?... They had 'computer geek' as an example. But particular, I guess not.

Hi Sarah;

That's good. I am sure you will do fine. That's young isn't it? I didn't learn how to drive until I was much older. And I was a very bad driver!

Hi people... I guess I'm a science geek now, so eccentric devotion can be ticked off the list. But my mum keeps saying I'm unfashionable.
