my own riddle house! :)

yay immaking my own riddle house! it will have random questions lol! LOL LETS GET STARTED THEN! smile
good luck!

1.7 rings...

You arrive at a hotel and have 3 sets of golden rings. The first set of rings has 4 rings, the second set has 2 rings and the third only has one ring. You cannot take these sets of rings apart, exchange them for a different form of currency, and the hotel clerk has no change. You want to stay at the hotel for 7 nights, and you have to pay one gold ring for each night that you stay. You cannot pay in advance, or all at once at the end of your stay. How do you pay for your 7 nights at the hotel?

2. when one gazes into a mirror the reflection will turn you evil. therefore one should only take a glimpse of the mirror...

what does that mean?

3. there are two men. 1 is called luois(i dont know how to spell it lol i dunno whyi chose that name) and the other james.
luios always lies. whenever james asks a question he always lies for example. is the sky blue? and he would say no and james wouldnt be able to tell if he was lying or not since he maybe colourblind.

james thought of a question that luois would never be able to lie to. what is that question?

4.How do get you six nines to equal exactlly 100(you can use addition, divistion, decimals... just no other digits and u can only get 6 of the nines no cheating like powers or or exponants or ! marks.)

5. There are 8 marbles that weigh 1 ounce each, and 1 marble that weighs 1.1 ounces. The marbles are all uniform in size, appearance, and shape. You have a balance that contains 2 trays. You are only able to use the scale 2 times. How do you determine which marble is the heaviest using only the scale and marbles in 2 weighings.

6.how many squares are there in a chessboard?

7.You are right next to a river and have a 5 gallon container and a 3 gallon container. You need to measure out 1 gallon of water. How do you do it?

and will do more after you work them out. elizabeth helped mewith this lol. she got some math problems( who knows where) and
she told me to work them out. i worked them out. now its YOUR turn to work them out lol smile

Re: my own riddle house! :)

1.

2. Come back to later.

3. 'Are you dead'? Plus this riddle doesn't make any sense. There are millions of possibilities for answers.

4. (99/99)+99

5. Place 3 marbles on each tray.
- If the first weighing doesn't balance, remove all the marbles from the lighter side, and place one marble on each tray from the heavier tray. The heavier side is the 1.1 ounce marble, but if they balance, then the marble from the heavier tray from the first weighing that was not weighed in the second weighing is the heavier one(1.1).
- If the marbles balance on the first wieiging, remove the marbles from the trays, and place 2 of the remaining unweighed marbles on the trays, one on each tray. If one is heavier, it is the heavier marble(1.1), but if they balance, the remaining unweighed marble is the heavier one.

6. 64

7. I'll come back to later. Is it a measuring jug or is there no way to tell what the measurements are?

Did you have to take my title and use it as your own? Jeez, use your imagination to think up one...

Just be more creative next time. wink

Re: my own riddle house! :)

Alternative to 4: (999-99)/9. Devanté's is perfectly valid, but I like mine better. smile
Edit2: And if anyone likes to look through old topics, then they can see another solution that I just thought of. Namely, (9*9)+(9+9)+(9/9). I like that one even better.

5. has already been answered, but I thought I'd mention that you can do it if you have 9 marbles as well. It's fairly obvious how to alter Devanté's answer to do that.

6. 204.

7. Edit: Dross got there before me.

And I have absolutely no idea what the answer to 2 is.

Why did the vector cross the road?
It wanted to be normal.

Re: my own riddle house! :)

There are two answers to 6, though - The clever answer, and the obvious answer.

By using simple math we see that Mathsyperson is correct.

1, 8x8 square
4, 7x7 squares
9, 6x6 squares
16, 5x5 squares
25, 4x4 squares
36, 3x3 squares
49, 2x2 squares
64, 1x1 squares

Re: my own riddle house! :)

I used that n/6(n+1)(2n+1) is the sum of all squares up to n². cool

i think one is somebody's name (proper noun) and he should not gaze into the mirror or else you (pronoun) will turn into evil?
