Inverse Variation

Z varies jointly as X and Y, and Z is 12 when X is 6 and Y is 4.  Find Z when X is 8 and Y is 10.

Re: Inverse Variation

Hi Spanky;

Z= k*XY

12 = k*6*4

12 = 24 k

k = 1 / 2 So

Find Z when X is 8 and Y is 10.

I have solved for k for you can you now find Z? Give it a try.

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.
