Tom is 12 years old, thrice his bro.. What is his age if he is twice his bro???

Let x be the number of years until Tom is twice his bro
12+x = 2(4+x)
Which can be solved to find the solution

Hi soha;

Tom is 3 times his brothers age.

B is the brothers age;
T is Toms age:

3B = T We know Tom's age is 12 so sub for T.

3B = 12 Solve for B.

B is 4

So when Tom is twice as old as B he is 2 * 4 = 8.
