Re: Complemet and supplement measures of angles

Hi Spanky;

Definitions:

For any angle  A between 0° and 180°, the supplement of A is 180° – A.

Two acute angles  that add up to 90°.  60° and 30° are complementary.

Using them you solve it like this:

A is the angle you seek.

180 - A = 4 (90 - A) + 30

180 - A = 360 - 4A + 30

180 = 360 - 3A + 30

150 = 360 - 3A

-210 = -3A

A = 70°

Re: Complemet and supplement measures of angles

ok so let me try another one and see if i got it right....

The measure of the angle supplement is 20 degrees more than 3 times that of its complement.  Find the measure of the angle described.

Would the answer be 55?

Hi;

A = 55° is correct.
