Doubling is just adding ...
If you double zero you get ... zero
If you double a negative number you get a negative number ...
The opposite of doubling is halving ...

doubling is in fact a subset of multiplication; you just multiply by 2 each time

To get the number x doubled n times, use x * 2^n .
