graph into parametric

How can you convert a graph of z = g(x,y) into a parametric representation of two variables?

Hi Identity;

I think it is best done with an example:

z = x^2 + y^2

Just say x^2 = u, y^2 = v. Now:

z = u+v
x = √ u
y = √ v

Sometimes you can eliminate one of the variables ( trig equations), example the well known helix. I don't think this is always possible.This is what I am looking at:
