COMPLEX numbers help

Hi I have a question....

Simplify: 4+8i
              9 + 3i

Would anyone be able to work this out and show the procedure aswell, I have been watching lectures on utube but nothing seems to exist for simplifying this sort of question.

Thanks

Did you see this one? He works out the general form (a + b i) / (c + d i), and then does a problem. Not the greatest video but OK. It will explain why sorobans method works.

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.

Re: COMPLEX numbers help

Hey thanks sorobans, great help i think i just got shaken off by the word simplify as I know how to divide complex numbers. Bobbym i had actually watched that video to complete different questions for adding subtracting and dividing, but i think i just got confused when the question asked simplify, i think i was expecting to have to do something else...You have been a great help guys many thanks smile
