Maths

if point M(–5, –4) is the mid-point of chord AB, then the slope of chord AB is___the answer given is -5/4 can anyone help me?

That's not enough information to answer the question.
Something else is needed, like the position of A or B for example.

For finding the slope, the two endpoints of a line segment ought to be known.

Hi;

  It looks like Dharsi is being given the slope (-5/4) through the midpoint (-5,-4}. This is an interpretation that allows us to continue.You can now get the equation of the line which passes through that midpoint.

Of course even after this you cannot find the ends of the chord AB.

infinite number of lines pas through a given point regardless being midpoint or any other thing , therfore the conditions are insufficient

That is correct. Since to me it looks like he is given a point and the slope that narrows it down to 1 line.
