In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
Some cause happiness wherever they go; others, whenever they go.
If you can not overcome with talent...overcome with effort.

Hi quittyqat,

Unlike Bobby I could only do a few in my head...but I didn't use a calculator.

More left! (Q13?)

### Re: Quittyqat's Exercises

Hi phrontister;

I think these problems have been changing due to editing. If #14 =111 111 111

then #15 must be 999 999 999

### Re: Quittyqat's Exercises

Hi Bobby,

Oops...muffed it! Got lost in my own scribble, and didn't copy down the right answers for #14 & #15. I've corrected my post.

I think I posted the answer to Question #14 from my workings for Bonus Question #4.

All right! (Heyyy... did you see them?)

Also, the number after 12 is thought to be unlucky, though I'm not superstitious. *knock on wood*

### Re: Quittyqat's Exercises

Hi quittyqat,

Heyyy... did you see them?

Yes!

I didn't know what you meant at first about there still being more questions, and went hunting. Having read a lot of your posts and noticing some of their sideways content helped me to track down those elusive bonus questions. Nice touch!

The 'unlucky' tag for the number 13 is not universal. In some countries it is actually held to be lucky, and many people in countries other than those also consider it to be lucky. In 'reality' it's only unlucky if something unlucky happens.

Are you truly triskaidekaphobic? How did you cope while you were 13? (I'm assuming something there). What about multiples of 13 and numbers whose digit sum or product is 13 or a multiple of 13? Do you walk past a house that is #13 (which is as bad as walking under a ladder or having a black cat cross your path), or do you cross the street to the even-number side until you get to #26 (2*13)? etc, etc.

### Re: Quittyqat's Exercises

No, not truly. I was just playing around with you. There's no #13 because I thought that not all people who read this are not triskaidekaphobic.
