Re: Bodmas2 + 3 x 7 = 23. The first operation to be done is division, since 25 divided by 5 is 5, the value is equal to . The next operation to be done is multiplication, Since 2 x 3 = 6, . Mathematics or the operations on numbers don't change, what changes is when to perform the operation, that is the order. When brackets are used, the operations inside the brackets ought to be performed first. for example, . It may be observed that the operations in the innermost brackets are performed first. Character is who you are when no one is looking. #4 20090402 20:33:46
Re: BodmasSo you are saying we need plenty of "Order of Operations" exercises? Good idea. "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." Leon M. Lederman #6 20090402 21:57:12

Re: BodmasHi sashaRR; In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof.
