1st order differential equations

when we have a 1st order differential equation,

and solve it via direct integration, why do use a definite integral,

instead of just an indefinite integration like so?

You can use both methods but in the 2nd method a constant of integration C is added. C is evaluated using initial or boundary conditions , so the solution is still the same.
