Need help in this.... What exactly comes under this heading?

Associate a given equation with a function whose zeros are the solutions of the equation.

Please help me with this...

We really need more details.  This sounds almost like something in algebraic geometry, but seems to be slightly off.  Anyways, in general, if an equation is given in n+m variables by:

Define the function:

Then every zero of z will correspond to a solution of the equation.


"In the real world, this would be a problem.  But in mathematics, we can just define a place where this problem doesn't exist.  So we'll go ahead and do that now..."
