That method is just a way of showing that the answer is 4, rather than analytically finding that the answer is 4.

I can't think of a way to solve this other than by inspection, but what I can do is observe that the function is strictly increasing, and so 4 is its unique solution.


Why did the vector cross the road?
It wanted to be normal.
