Re: Help$$$

To have x servings of soup, he needs (1 1/4)x = 5x/4 cups of it. He has thirty cups, so you have an equation:

5x/4 = 30.

Solve: 5x = 120
x = 24.

Why did the vector cross the road?
It wanted to be normal.

Re: Help$$$

I agree with 24.  Let's count by fourths to get good at this.
(0) (1/4) (2/4) (3/4) (1) (1 1/4) (1 2/4) (1 3/4) (2) (2 1/4) (2 2/4) (2 3/4) (3)

Now let's count by 1 and 1 fourths to get good at that.
(0) (1 1/4) (2 2/4) (3 3/4) (5) (6 1/4) (7 2/4) (8 3/4) (10)

bye.
