volume of an ellipse

does anyone know how to calculate the volume of an ellipse when it is revolved completely around the x-axis??
for example x^2+9y^2=9

does anyone know the formula???

I think to calculate the area will be tougher.

Polar Coordinates may be better


X'(y-Xβ)=0

take any curve y=f(x)  tk a strip of height y n width dx  (not rigourous but thts hw newton did such stuff) volume generated whn this strip is revolve arnd y axis is 2pix*y*dx
integrate dis under proper limits

note: in your ques rotion abt x or y axis doesnt make any diff

cone
v=1/3*(3.14*r*r)*h
volume
v=3.14*r^2*h
surface area2*3.14*r^2*h
