The marked price of a book isRs 15.75 .If the shopkeeper allows Rs 3.15 discount, calculate the rate of discount.
because 3.15 and 15.75 both have points , can we cancel the points ?

Well, you want to find 3.15 as a percentage of 15.75, so you divide 3.15 by 15.75 and multiply by 100. This is the same as dividing 315 by 1575 and multiplying by 100 so you can do this instead, if you find it easier.

15.75 rupees is 3.15 + 3.15 + 3.15 + 3.15 + 3.15 rupees.
Hence............... 20% 40% 60% 80% 100%
So the answer is a 20% discount.
