Vote on MathsIsFun Front Page

Thanks for the feedback on the Draft.

I now have two alternatives and would like your vote (and comments if desired):

1: [snip]
2: [snip]

[all changed now!]

Hard... they're so similar, but I prefer the 2nd one, especially its simplification of the links on the left.

Re: Vote on MathsIsFun Front Page

Dark grey, my friend! Everything else would look like a dead beaver or a stained road. Unless you made a cones motive. Then brown.

Else Black.

What would me even more special would be a grass pile motive, that would be really neat. Just take a picture of a grass pile and make anime of it (through computer) then scale it. The text should be dark green.

This is my proposal:

spring: dark grey on road
summer: dark green on pile of grass on road
autumn: dark brown on pile of leaves on road
winter: Grey on pile of snow on road.

basically link 1 with the welcome text in same colour but darker then the background of it.

Re: Vote on MathsIsFun Front Page

But it's always spring in Mathsisfun land!

If you were change the appearance of the front page to match seasons, you would only be right for about 1/4 of the world.

Re: Vote on MathsIsFun Front Page

Well, If you can toggle through the layouts yourself, we could have 4.
It could also be ajusted automatically by the forum clock option, if you are logged in.
But I concure, it should be dark grey then.

I like Scene 2, with the main picture in an amorphous (non-rectangular) box. If you want to use a rectangle, you should at least have it in the proportion of the golden ratio! tongue Otherwise amorphous is more pleasing to look at. roll

Re: Vote on MathsIsFun Front Page

In my opinion, the more picture, the marier.

w8, forget about grey cause this should work, let the "welcome to mathsisfun!" be puddle blue (0 red 128 green 255 blue)!
That would possibly also work very nice indeed! especially with the second version, the puddle like picture.

Re: Vote on MathsIsFun Front Page

I think I prefer the second one. Hmm ... I have to go now, but I'll come back later and post some more comments.

Re: Vote on MathsIsFun Front Page

OK, the second one it is then!

And I will keep your kind suggestions in mind for the next version, because I want to release this version soon.
