Here, we can find the percentage of 72 out of 49 only.

Am I right?

I believe it would be 72 / (72 + 49) which would be 59.5%.

As Prakash Panneer says, there's a bit of confusion in the question.

Let's say you have two types of objects A and B in the ratio 72:49.
If you want to find what percentage of all of the objects are A, then pi man's method is correct.

If you want A as a percentage of B, then you would do 72/49 * 100% ≈ 147%.
You could use a similar method to find B as a percentage of A.
