Math Facts-Type ForumThis is a bad suggestion, but maybe there could be a forum full of 'math-type facts or information' designed to help people and children with mathematics? The Formulas section is...'kind of' designed to help people, but maybe another forum designed for this thing would be useful. #2 2006-08-17 22:30:13
Re: Math Facts-Type ForumOn the contrary, a good idea. Like the other good idea of a symbol and definition section. I just have to figure a good structure for it. "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #3 2006-08-30 16:39:48
Re: Math Facts-Type ForumWkipedia has a a good lot of mathematical symbols with their definitions. Although I suspected they wouldn't have all the details and symbols. Last edited by Devanté (2006-08-30 16:40:24) #4 2006-08-30 19:23:14
Re: Math Facts-Type ForumYeah, that's good! "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #5 2006-08-30 22:16:11
Re: Math Facts-Type ForumSounds good... #6 2006-08-30 23:29:20
Re: Math Facts-Type ForumFor the geometry symbols I used mostly images I made myself. But the Wikipedia characters look fine on my PC, but maybe not on others. So maybe we can use some of them successfully. "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #7 2006-08-31 02:22:54
Re: Math Facts-Type ForumIf some of the characters that are on Wikipedia may not show up on some users' screens and could be of some use to us, we could easily get a snapshot of the character and crop it down to a good size to use on the forum/site as a character image, rather than as plain text. #8 2006-08-31 21:09:57
Re: Math Facts-Type ForumYou need two sizes of each symbol - large for the first column, and small for the examples. If I had the time I would get on to it straight away - copy the "Geometry Symbols" page, rename it "General Symbols", and start populating it with symbols.
