Geo help

The lines y =5/12 x and y =4/3x are drawn in the coordinate plane. Find the slope of the line that bisects the angle between these lines.

Hi;

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.

Re: Geo help

hi adpqadpq

Call the angle for the lower line y, so that tan(y) = 5/12

And the angle being bisected 2x, so that tan(2x+y) = 4/3

Use the trig. formula:

This will enable you to get tan(x) in terms of tan(x + y)

Now use:

This will enable you to get tan(x + y) which is the required slope.
