Another word problem

A light pole casts a shadow 22 feet long.  A 6 foot man standing 10 feet from the base of the light pole cast a shadow of 12 feet.  How tall is the light pole?

Re: Another word problem

The ratio of height to shadow cast is always constant for anything. We are told that a 6ft. man casts a 12ft. shadow, so the ratio is 1:2.

Scaling this up to fit with the pole's 22ft. shadow gives 11:22, so the pole is 11ft. high.

Why did the vector cross the road?
It wanted to be normal.
