Help - Exponential Growth and Decay

Hello, I need help with this formula


So can someone explain this formula and show me examples?

One example would be for calculating compound interest.  Say you invested xo at a rate of r% per year. After one year you'd have xo (1 + r).  After two years you'd have xo(1+r)(1+r) etc.

Plus anything that increases in a similar way.
