matrix?

Lets Get To Work

This is done by encrypting letters into numbers, creating a 14x2 matrix with those numbers, and multiplying that matrix by a different 2x2 matrix. The resulting matrix is given below. It will be your job to find the 2x2 matrix, use it to decode the given matrix, and then decipher the resulting numbers.

[ [58 81]
[110 120]
[80 60]
[42 44]
[94 108]
[76 57]
[90 80]
[22 24]
[60 45]
[96 117]
[34 48]
[56 42]
[44 83]
[58 91] ]

I need to decrypt this but I am lost. Anyone good at these?

Re: matrix?

Hi;

You are a geocacher?

This 2 x 2 matrix when we multiply the given one with it will unscramble it? Unscramble it to what? Ascii letters?

Re: matrix?

Yes, I am. Just started.

I don't know what the output will be. I don't understand this math at all.

Re: matrix?

Hi;

Forget about the math, what do you expect to be in there? Letters of the alphabet, numbers?

All 14 numbers can not be just that. Any idea what the others are?

Re: matrix?

I guess it could be Ascii.
Sometimes you dont need to find the whole coords but just the last 5 or last 3 for each side.

Re: matrix?

That is not much to go on, there are a lot of 2 x 2 matrices.

Re: matrix?

I can't post the link but if you google GC34396 then I think you will see the page.

If the hint says look at the title then somehow could Lets Go To Work be used to make a 2x2?

Re: matrix?

I have seen some of these as 3 x 3 square matrices and those are somewhat easier to work with. I will check the site.

Re: matrix?

The title is Lets Get To Work.

Could it be the word work or the first letter of each word to make the 2x2 matrix?

Re: matrix?

The cache is not at the posted coordinates!!!!!!!! Do not go looking at the posted coordinates, instead, solve the puzzle to discover where the cache is placed. Bring your own pen.

Recently I have been doing some mystery puzzles and I've decided they are my favorite type of cache; that being said, I have decided to place my first puzzle cache. I have placed this cache near the area I park for work, hence the name "Lets Get to Work." To create my puzzle I used a coding method using matrices that my math teacher taught me. I did this by encrypting letters into numbers, creating a 14x2 matrix with those numbers, and multiplying that matrix by a different 2x2 matrix. The resulting matrix is given below. It will be your job to find the 2x2 matrix, use it to decode the given matrix, and then decipher the resulting numbers.

I hope you have a calculator that can do matrices (although a calculator is not necessary).

This is all the wording on the page.

Re: matrix?

Reading through the logs of people that have found it.
" I would personally rate this one higher than 3.0, as there were some jumps required to make the solve."

"With my math background, I should have solved this one way faster than i did."

Hi;

Yes, I read that. The Lets Get To Work idea did not check out.

What is TFTPC other than trivial file transfer protocol?

Okay, the code on that page uses ROT13 but that still does not help me.
