Radian/Trigonometry Question Help

Hi there.
I am in what I believe to be the equivalent of 11th grade (5th year in Ireland) and am really struggling with one particular question. I have truly tried and failed every approach.
As a diagram is included I have just taken a pic of the question: tinypic. com/view.php?pic=mkwvah&s=8#.UwdUNvl_tN4
It is just Q.13 I need help with.
Also, just to say although I have never used the forum before, this site has been such a huge help to me! big_smile
Many, many thanks!

Re: Radian/Trigonometry Question Help

hi Sinead123

Welcome to the forum.

The radius is 8, so you can calculate the right hand quarter circle with 1/4 pi r squared.

For the left hand side do the same and subtract that answer from the area of a 8x8 square.

Hope that helps,

Bob
