n-gons

in hexagon ABCDEF,AB=ED=2 ,AF=CD=6 ,BC=EF=4 , and all the interior angles are equal. Find the area of hexagon ABCDE.

I see you have graph paper.
You must be plotting something

Re: n-gons

I am not getting it, if all the interior angles are equal then aren't all the sides supposed to be equal too?

Not necessarily.

Can you give an example?

Re: n-gons

Did you try drawing the given problem in GG?

Re: n-gons

Maybe we can break it up into small triangles and then use Heron's Formula?

Re: n-gons

No. But I know that it is possible.

Another example would be if you a regular hexagon and just stretch out two of its sides which are parallel.

Re: n-gons

Yes. Good Example. Thats what has been done here. A simpler example is a rectangle

Re: n-gons

The answer is close to 38.12122672100419. Isn't it?

Hi;

Geogebra, geogebra, it is the man. If it can't do it nobody can. Yay geogebra!

Re: n-gons

I agree with bobbym's answer exactly.

I have decided to hide my comment about a possible method below.
It would be interesting to know how Agnishom got an answer that is very nearly
correct but slightly out. (Assuming of course that bobbym's was right - I think it is.)
