Re: [Discrete Math] Finals review problems in ProbabilityDo you have the book? It is on page 431 of the sixth edition and he gives 3 examples after the derivation. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #27 2012-12-14 10:14:54
Re: [Discrete Math] Finals review problems in ProbabilityIs it anywhere in the 7th edition? The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #28 2012-12-14 10:22:39

Re: [Discrete Math] Finals review problems in ProbabilityHi
So why would not use the formula he gave at the bottom? That is how he gets his answer. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #30 2013-06-05 20:38:47

Re: [Discrete Math] Finals review problems in ProbabilityI would say the answer is 5. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #32 2013-06-05 22:44:27
