boundary in complex plane

the boundary in the complex plane is approximated by
an ellipse.

What does it mean ? Can any one explain me via figure .

Thanks

Re: boundary in complex plane

What part are you having trouble with? I assume by the complex plane they mean the horizontal axis is real numbers and the vertical axis is imaginary numbers, which are a real number multiplied by SQRT(-1). That is the 2 dimensional "plane" on which you would plot complex numbers. Do you understand what an ellipse is? If not a search will get you plenty of information.

Re: boundary in complex plane

well,  we  can represent the boundary  of complex plane as a circle ?
no ??  if  yes  then why in the above statement he said  ellipse /

Re: boundary in complex plane

hi model,

I would say that the complex plane is unbounded, so this suggests your teacher meant something else entirely.

What came before and after this?  Maybe we can work out what was meant.

Or you could ask him.

Re: boundary in complex plane

Hi Bob , I like that . i meant your message .

Bob, I am reading book and have seminar so present this all.
Well , now my seminar is going to start so let see what happen . and my ans to the above question is ellipse . because eccentricity  of circle is 0 . so we can't approximate  boundary of complex numbers as a  circle .
