Solved this !!!

Problem
Proof & solve the equation for 6÷2 (1+2)

Answer
Let x= (1+2), will give 6÷2x

6/2x  =  3/x           OR       6/2x  =  6/(x+x)

Replace x with 3 will give:

6/2x  =  6/2(3)       OR       6/2x  =  6/((3+3) )
        =  1                                   =  6/6
                                                  =1

Does this equation's answer equals to 1 or 9 ?? It's confusing about...dunnowhat

Re: Solved this !!!

Hi booklet;

It is confusing because of the lack of correct bracketing.

Which is correct based on how you presented the problem. Or maybe what you mean:

The moral: Always use bracketing to avoid confusion.

Welcome to the forum.

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.

Hi Maiya;

Yes, that is what he meant but the first one is what he wrote.
