Hello from New ZealandI am here because I am an amateur maths teacher. I am 52, and my mission is to teach basic maths to a 55 y.o. who had never attended school. A challenge for both myself and the private tutor (who teaches maths at school to kids aged 12-18) hired by the pupil. #2 2010-08-26 12:27:45
Re: Hello from New ZealandHi irrational; In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #3 2010-08-26 13:19:43

Re: Hello from New ZealandYes, sorry. Let me throw in a plug for the education business. For the great majority of people who are not geniuses it is the only way to go. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #5 2010-08-26 22:31:48
