Re: Song of the Day!

I'm on a very sad note.
The song stuck in my head is by Christina Aguilera I think it's called 'hurt'.

I was thinking of "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree"

Re: Song of the Day!

I take it that's an old song. Who would do that anyway? Seems pretty pointless.

Re: Song of the Day!

Like the Bird song it is from a more civilized time. Even the meaning of the song is lost today.

Yeah, the meaning, that's what I was asking. And yet my questions go unanswered once again.

Re: Song of the Day!

It is about a guy returning home on a bus from prison to a girl he hopes is waiting for him. He writes her a letter asking her to tie a yellow ribbon around an oak tree as a sign that she still does. If he sees the ribbon he will get off, if not he is prepared to just keep going knowing that it was his fault for being away for 3 years. Very eastern in its method and quite mystifying to todays women.

I have provided the emotional content and the mechanism, but you will not be able to understand it...

Re: Song of the Day!

Well? Did she tie the yellow ribbon round the oak tree and live happily ever after? Well? Did they?
That sounds kinda romantic actually. And, yeah, a bit strange.

It already happened at the end of the song. I suggest you listen to it.

Yeah, that's not gunna happen. I might try that method, though.
The result would be kinda funny either way.

Re: Song of the Day!

I said it'd be funny to test that method. Of having someone you're waiting for to decide whether to tie a ribbon round an oak tree or not.
If they did, it'd be funny. If they didn't it'd probably be funnier.

Funny? In what way?

But I still know that the "Bird Song" is the best.

funny, in either way would be shocking and unexpected.

I've been listening to a lot of happy songs. It helps with my anxiety attacks.
I don't like it when some songs set off my split personality.

Well, write Tony and make your feelingd known before he goes off with another song just like it. It is not as good as the bird song.

Hi misheeru;

No sarcasm meant at all. It was an old group called Tony Orlando and Dawn.

Re: Song of the Day!

No, I was the one being sarcastic.

And geez! A band from the around the 70's!?! You made it sound like they were ancient or something! I am disappoint.

Speaking of music, I made a new musical discovery about a month ago!! I will post something of their's for "Song of the Day" later. They're wonderful... (although bobbym will most likely not even bother clicking the link...)

Re: Song of the Day!

That is where you are wrong. I click all the links. If it gets posted I look at it. Sometimes I do not comment as I have nothing to say. Most of the times though I will have plenty to say.

The 70's is ancient for you.

Re: Song of the Day!

I see...

Does that make a 33 year old ancient? 1970 is only 33 years before I was born. Granted some things have changed since then, I still do not think that that is a really really long time ago.

Song of the Day:

"Chrome" by: VNV Nation

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OI1Em3rQz3E

Lyrics:

"A million faces, each a million lies
for each and all a chrome disguise
prompts for action, force reaction
embody promise in a sheen so pure.
Hurt, the measure of blind ambition,
the testament to your singular disease.
Against all wisdom you heed no warning,
your desires giving you away.

If I could change your mind,
I wouldn't save you from the path you wander.
In desperation dreams, any soul can set you free.
And I still hear you scream,
in every breath, in every single motion.
Burning innocence, the fire to set you free.

Your actions turn conquest to dust.
In portents of fate, you foolishly place trust.
Sense fear in your broken breathing.
Resort to shadows till your body expires.
All creation has the promise of heaven,
and still you travel the road to hell.
I'm saying nothing for the good of myself,
but I'm still talking and you're not listening.

If I could change your mind,
I wouldn't save you from the path you wander.
In desperation dreams, any soul can set you free.
And I still hear you scream,
in every breath, in every single motion.
Burning innocence, the fire to set you free.

As night descends upon the city,
the streets are cold, the lights go by.
And in the stories of the people,
a million faces, a million lies.
They'll never say they feel what you feel,
that they can see the world you see.
And in their faces, their expressions,
a million faces, a million lies."

I discovered these guys about a month ago and my general reaction was "Why hadn't I found them sooner!!" Anyways, Chrome is in my "Top 4" favorite songs by them ~Enjoy!

Oh, and in case anyone was wondering (which I doubt) the "VNV" in their name stands for "Victory not Vengeance". smile
