Re: Please Explain...When you replace numbers by their digit sums and cast out nines you are essentially considering two numbers to be the same if they have the same remainder when divided by 9. I would write rather that when I am doing this. Hence we have We cannot now deduce that since 0 has three square roots modulo 9.
