Re: What do you think?

I have been looking at the sequence of answers for a pattern there.

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics.
I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on.

Re: What do you think?

New Problem:

Find the smallest natural number for which, if you move its last digit to the beginning, you get a number that is 6 times the original. Or prove that no such number can exist.

A says) Finally some real mathematics, I have a proof using Banach spaces that no such number can exist!

B says)I have the number. It is

C says) Hold on B, how can you have the number after A proved it can not exist? You should not go off making spurious claims. A has done it again.

D says) A has confused me again.

E says) I have the number too but it is larger than B's.

Who is right? Can there be at least 2 solutions or no solutions?

The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't.

How do you solve that?

Re: What do you think?

Hi Agnishom;

There are at least two ways, computer and a little algebra. Actually this makes a good Euler project and you should try it by programming first.

Re: What do you think?

It would take too much time for my computer to calculate 50 digits of numbers.

How do I start eliminating possibilities?

Re: What do you think?

Hi;

There is a famous article written by an unknown genius called "Commonsense Brute Force and the Computer," that covers this concept.

smile Why does the genius still wish to remain anonymous???

However, will you please explain the pseudocode to the problem?

Re: What do you think?

Hi;

Yes, but believe it or not Mathematica makes those problems very easy. I hardly had to do any coding at all!
