In betweenyness

Hi;

If you have not missed the entire 20th century as I did try to answer this easy question.

Q) What betweenness relation is true if  the following equations are true

1) AK + KB = AB
2) RB - RA = AB
3) KB = RB - RK

Answers:

1) Looks like A - K - B, draw the number line like this:

A                       K                                             B
______________________________________

2) looks like R - A - B, draw the number line like this:

R                       A                                             B
----------------------------------------------------------------

3) looks like R - K - B, with this number line.

R                      K                                              B
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Which answer 1,2 or 3 is wrong?

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.

Re: In betweenyness

Hi Bobby,

I didn't do in betweenness in either this or last century and so had to look it up (couldn't find it on MIF, so I used mathforum.org).

As far as I can work out from what I can grasp:
