On Cartesian Coordinates:

Looks really good and easy to understand. I think it is more common to have the Z and Y axes switched. At least I am more used to that.

So x is left-right, y is up-down and z heads off "into the page" ... ?

I think it's fine as it is. The x-y plane is the same as it was before, we're just looking at it from a different angle because otherwise the z-arrow would be pointing right at us and be hard to see.

Why did the vector cross the road?

It wanted to be normal.

Mathsyperson is correct, we can look at it from any angle but generally, x is left to right, y is up and down and z is coming out of the page. I am not proposing you change the directions of the axes. Just to relable them. Don't get me wrong, I think the page is excellent.

Hi MathsisFun;

It looks great to me, I asked our tensor and vector guru to look at it and he thought it was fine.

My father used to erect small monuments, he always first put them up using instruments so it was truly level. Then he would step back and look at it, if it looked crooked to his eye he would straighten it according to sight. Even if the instruments disagreed.

You have a better sense of the artistic than him or I. How does it look to you? Adjust it accordingly.
