Walking on custard

Remember I mentioned one episode of “QI” in which it was pointed out that custard is a non-Newtonian dilatant fluid? That means that if you apply a large amount of pressure on it, it resists, but if you only apply a tiny amount pressure to it, it gives way.

And this implies that you can walk on custard without sinking into it! As this video shows:

It also shows that you can’t stand on custard, only walk on it. smile
