solid mensuration IV

a cube of ice of edge 4cm melts until it becomes a cube which is one-half as heavy as the original. find the dimensions of the new cube.

Volume of the ice cube before melting = 4 x 4 x 4 = 64 cc
(cc = cubic centimeters)
Half the volume would be half the weight.
Hence, the volume of the new cube, that is, after melting = 32 cc


where V is the volume and a is each side of the cube.
Hence, the dimensions of the new cube would be
