working the average of uneven credits

Hello
can someone help me with working out the average of my results please.
i have:
56%          20credits
57%          20credits
56%          20credits
55%          10credits
73%          10credits
55%          20credits
69%          20credits

i cant do the basic, add them all and divide by the 7, which i could do if they were all even weighted.
how do i work out the average for my results?

Cheers,
Ritchie

Re: working the average of uneven credits

Multiply each score by the amount of credits that it's associated with. Then add all the "credit-scores" and divide by the total number of credits.

I get 7140 ÷ 120 = 59.5% as your overall average.

Edit: In this case, there's a slightly easier way to do it.
Think of the two 10-credit marks as being combined into a new 20-credit unit. The mark for that unit would be the average of the two (64%).
Now you have 6 units all with equal weighting, and so you can find the average as normal.

Why did the vector cross the road?
It wanted to be normal.

Re: working the average of uneven credits

He's right!!
(56 + 56 + 57 + 57 + 56 + 56 + 55 + 73 + 55 + 55 + 69 + 69) / 12 = 59.5
